HISTORY BEHIND LAAJASALO RUN

The Laajasalo Run has a long history. The first run, then by the name Laajasalo Jog, was organised in October 1981. The putter man of the event was late mr. Rauno Pajunen together with local sports clubs. From year 1981 forward the run was always held on the second Saturday of October until the year 1994. After 1994 the organisation of the event was put on a break.  Laajasalo Run came to alive again with the help of Mimi Cajander who organised the Run again in autumn 2016. Current organizers were all involved in running in 2016 and noted that there was clear need for this kind of communal event for Laajasalo people. Mimi organised the Run again in 2017 but in year 2018 it was yet again put on a break.

Now in year 2019 the Laajasalo Run starts again and this time the event is here to stay! This Village Run is organised by Laajasalo people where everybody has a change, together with friends and strangers alike, enjoy the amazing scenery and running routes of Laajasalo – by running or Nordic walking.

THE ROUTES

The routes of 8k and 15k start from near by the shopping mall Saari. After the start the routes continue to Aino Ackté park. From there runners get around Killingholmankuja and continue to Laajasalo shores towards Kruunuvuori. The 8k and 15k routes diverge after about 3,5 km.

LAAJASALOJUOKSU

Vuodesta 1981 järjestetty Laajasalojuoksu on täällä taas – jäädäkseen. Laajasalojuoksun ideana on saada kyläläiset osallistumaan yhteiseen tapahtumaan.Saarelaisilta saarelaisille tai kyläläisiltä kyläläisille on tapahtuman itseisarvo, mitä ei voi
ohittaa.
